The Power of the Written Word

All recorded words, whether handwritten, typed or printed, carry the spiritual vibration of the writer. Thus, an individual mind can be influenced for either good or bad, because a reader receives the vibration of the writer through the spiritual cord. This holds true whether a publication is light fiction, journalistic work or a textbook.

If only writers were more aware of this they might take more care with what they write about and how they present it. I do not mean that rigidity disciplined works alone should be produced, that rigidly disciplined works alone should be produced, that only religious or educational books should be published. Written works should contain interest and merit, though, whatever they are–fiction or fact, information or instruction. Otherwise, the reader has wasted his time and nothing constructive has been gained.

In general, the largest part of written material published seems to have been produced soley for profit and fame. After finishing such publications, readers have received no inspiration, no new thoughts.

True literary works of high spiritual quality have served for centuries and have created lasting impressions on their readers. Thousands of people have been uplifted spiritually and often have received spiritual guidance through such books. This has not been due as much to the subject matter as to the spiritual vibrations of the authors. The more virtuous their characters have been, the purer and more powerful the impressions they have made through their works. Conversely, when the books are written by authors whose characters are low and whose thoughts are negative, they emit negative vibrations themselves, however cleverly they are written. Readers are influenced adversely before they realize it.

The teachings of Johrei are revelations given directly to me by God. Therefore, the vibrations of the written words in our books and articles are very high. Those who read them receive the Divine Light through their eyes, with the same effect obtained by Johrei.

The more the teachings of Word Messianity are read, the more spiritual clouds of the reader can be dispelled. They then become increasingly aware of the deeper meanings in the words and their understanding is thereby expanded.

Reading the teachings regularly inspires a stronger awareness, and a greater faith with every study period. The vibrations from God’s revelations fill the being with gratitude and an ever-growing desire to serve. Such is the power of the written word.

Beauty and Appreciations

BEAUTY AND APPRECIATION (95)

Nature’s scenery –

Its beautiful trees, flowers,

Mountains and rivers –

Is God’s great art,

Created for humanity’s pleasure.

Because of my aim,

Which is to help everyone

Live in paradise,

I must first become

A person of paradise myself.

It is God’s great blessing

That we are uplifted

And purified

In spirit and body

Through the enjoyment of art.

There are three ways for people to attain spiritual

purification and higher awareness: one, through suffering;

two, through the practice of virtue; three, through beauty.

The first way, suffering, is experienced in physical illness

or adversity. When spiritual clouds are accumulated to a

certain level, a natural purifying activity begins, according to

the law of purification. This is Nature’s way of maintaining

harmony.

The second method of purification, the practice of virtue,

is experienced through the giving of self in service to others,

both on an individual and a worldwide level. This is a better

way of dispelling spiritual clouds and raising one’s spiritual

vibration than through the first method. It is much easier

and offers the joy of service while cleansing the spiritual

being of its impurities.

The third way for purification to take place, through

awareness of beauty, is experienced by a direct contact with

the beauty of Nature and with the enjoyment of lovely things

created by human beings.

Places of natural beauty carry a high spiritual vibration.

Part of God’s Plan was the creation of flowers, trees,

mountains and seas for us to enjoy, and while enjoying

them, to be purified in spirit, mind and body.

Any type of manmade beauty purifies the spiritual being

to some degree. Paintings, sculpture, music, poetry and

prose all carry the vibrations of their creators as well as their

own, producing a vibratory power that is second only to

God’s own creation, Nature.

Both service and beauty are stressed in our work. They

form a balanced harmony that constantly purifies our

spiritual beings.

God’s Love

GOD’S LOVE (68)

How mysterious and wondrous it is.

     All our prayers are answered

When our requests are right, virtuous and sincere.

The true power to save the world rests with God.

Let us pray – deeply pray

To the Great God of Light. (Nidai-sama)

Some things that seem good,

     Even right, through human eyes,

May not be so in the sight of God.

Let us remain humble and discreet.

People often fervently pray to God to save their lives or

cure their illnesses. God’s reply may be to remind them that

such fervent and urgent prayer, done repeatedly, implies

they don’t have much trust in Him. God’s blessings aren’t

dependent on the performance, or frequency, of one’s acts

of supplication or faithful affirmation. He knows we are

dependent on Him, and He will take care of us.

God’s love for humanity is so great and so profound that

people can receive limitless blessings and protection as long

as they open themselves up to receiving such blessings.

When people put enough trust in God and leave the

matter in God’s hands, God never fails to help them. If we

detach ourselves from undue ego, worries and attachment,

and leave the outcome to God, it is easier for God to extend

a helping hand.

Since God is all powerful and omnipotent, God can do

anything. But if a person isn’t in a condition to receive God’s

help, there is little God can do. If someone wants to receive

it, that person only needs to become worthy of God’s help

through a change in faith, attitude and behavior.

Turning to God

TURNING TO GOD (78)

As I recall my past experiences, they were frightful times.

I was lost, wandering in darkness,

Without God’s staff to lean upon.

I discovered I was approaching a precipice

When it was illuminated by God’s Light.

Now, I can see everything clearly.

Now that the Light of God has awakened me,

I no longer dwell on my past unhappiness.

It was all created by my own folly.

After taking a brief membership course, anybody can

receive the Sacred Focal Point and start transmitting the

Divine Light to themselves and to others. This Divine Light,

Johrei, starts to gradually remove the spiritual clouds from a

person’s spiritual body – as well as from those of their home

and family – bringing about health, peace and prosperity.

If you continue to faithfully practice Johrei for some

time, you and your entire family will become healthier, until

illness is virtually eliminated. Under the guidance and

illumination of God’s Divine Light, everything will go

smoothly, and everyone will begin to live happy and joyous

lives.

Illness

ILLNESS (66)

How foolish it is to try to cure illness

Without really knowing the true spiritual cause.

Illness is a cleansing action,

A purification of one’s spiritual body –

One of God’s wondrous blessings.

Life comes from God. Only God can make it whole.

Humans alone cannot create life,

Nor can they cure physical illness on their own.

A human being consists of two things, spirit and body.

Since the law of the spiritual preceding the physical is a

universal law, the spirit is of primary importance, while the

body is actually secondary.

The spirit should be transparent and pure, as in its

original state. But when toxins occur in the physical body,

they are reflected on the spiritual body as clouds. These

clouds, or opaque spots on the spirit, are the true cause of

illness. Once these opaque spots are removed, illness is

healed. This is the principle behind Johrei – transmitting

Divine Light to clear away one’s spiritual clouds – and it is

true healing.

The spiritual purification of clouds results in a physical

purification of the toxins, which must be dissolved and

eliminated. This process in the physical body, accompanied

by discomfort and pain, is called illness. But illness is only a

symptom appearing on the surface, and the true cause is

inside – the spiritual clouds.

Honesty

HONESTY (60)

Honesty is a true treasure,

Far more priceless than any earthly treasure.

I am now spreading the Divine teachings of God

So more and more people may be awakened to Truth

And become truly honest.

In order to help others become more virtuous and honest,

Those who serve must first rid themselves

Of all insincerity.

I have been honest since childhood. I could not tell a

lie. When I was young and starting out in business, I was

often told: “An honest man like you will not be successful.

You have to learn how to tell lies if you want to be successful

in the business world.” I, too, thought so then. For a short

period of time I tried to do my best to lie, but it was sad.

I was so miserable that I couldn’t stand it. My life became

dark, and my days were all unpleasant.

Being a merchant, lying should have been useful for me

in business. But somehow it didn’t help. Finally, I made up

my mind to remain honest to the end. From then on, results

were unexpectedly good. The business world trusted me, so

I succeeded by leaps and bounds.

Later, when I left the world of business to concentrate

on my spiritual work, I remained true to my decision to live

by the principle of honesty. Naturally, the results have been

good. In the beginning I was misunderstood, criticized and

harassed. Yet, despite all the ups and downs in my life,

people’s trust in me did not drop. I believe strongly even

now that this was due to the merit of honesty.

Gratitude

GRATITUDE (62)

My body and spirit would not be here now

Were it not for my parents

Who loved and cared for me.

Since I am now enveloped in radiant Divine Light,

I have learned to live in peace and harmony

With those around me.

Our true worth can be measured

By our appreciation and gratitude

For all of the kind deeds bestowed on us by others.

Gratitude gives birth to gratitude and ingratitude creates more ingratitude. This is because gratitude reaches God, while ingratitude reaches dark forces.

Therein lies the reason why those who are always grateful naturally enjoy happiness and good fortune, while those who are ungrateful and constantly complain are unhappy and become more and more unfortunate. As one prominent spiritual leader in Japan wrote, “If you rejoice, joyous things will come to you.”

Faith

FAITH (36)

In this world there are many people

Receiving God’s love and abundant blessings;

Yet, they fail to recognize Him.     (Nidai-sama)

There are people who insist there is no God,

Not realizing that through their own words

They are denying their own existence.

The future lives of those without faith

Are like weeds floating upon moving waters,

Not knowing where to go.

True faith should lead to serenity of mind, and a life of

happiness and joy. When we attain this state, we perceive

the Love of God in the sun, the moon, and the stars; in the

beauty of nature, the songs of birds and the perfection of

flowers. We recognize God’s caring in the abundance with

which our every need is supplied, such as food, clothes and

shelter, and for which we express our gratitude. We sense

our oneness with all life, not only with people but with

nature – with the plant and animal life all about us. This is

spiritual ecstasy. Upon having done our best in any

situation, in that tranquil and happy state of mind we have

perfect trust in God.

When I am faced with a difficult problem that seems to

defy a solution in spite of my best efforts, I turn to God for

help and guidance. I release my problem to His Wisdom and

wait, trusting that the answer will present itself. I can say

from experience that, even if a prospect looks dark in the

beginning, the result is always better than anticipated. God

blesses me beyond my dreams in His own ways through His

Wisdom. It is indeed wonderful! By placing my trust in God,

my life has been richly blessed with His miracles.

Education

Education

True education is learning that good deeds bring prosperity

And wrong acts bring failure,

All according to Divine Law.

How sad it is that present education

Teaches only surface knowledge,

Leaving the mind unaware of spiritual Truth.

The world is so steeped in surface knowledge,

Lacking the true perception

Of eternal life. (Nidai-sama)

I believe the present system of education makes a great

mistake in overemphasizing material learning. Unless

spiritual and moral education is given hand-in-hand with the

material, the true aim of education will never be achieved.

“Spiritual education” means awakening people to the

existence of spiritual things – above anything else, to the

existence of God. This is the essence of spiritual education.

Through it, people can learn the spiritual meaning of life and

thus bring about the balanced advancement of both the

spiritual and the material sciences. Only with this will the

eternal peace of the world be born and humanity becomes

able to enjoy a paradise-like life.

In Service to Humanity

Strive to become the kind of person who wishes

For the happiness of others always;

Because God loves such a person best!

When our minds are cleansed,

And we are free from selfishness

And pray for the welfare of others,

We are in harmony with God. (Nidai-sama)

Serene is my mind, cheerful is my heart,

When I am working for the welfare of others –

For the good of all humanity.

God’s Immutable Laws govern all processes, including

the thoughts and actions of each human being. When our

thoughts and actions are creative, beneficial, in harmony

with the laws of our being and of the cosmos, they further

the evolutionary Plan; then, we are happy and we prosper.

But, when we act counter to the laws, we become of little

value to ourselves and to God, since God’s laws are

absolute. When our mental attitude is not in accord with

them, we suffer; and little can be done for us.

I believe we serve God most by serving the life stream

of humanity. We must help as many people as possible to

become aware of the Divine Plan and of the Light being

released for the Daylight Age. We must pray for the good

of all. To pray only for our own welfare indicates self-

centeredness. But, we won’t need to be concerned about

our own salvation once we become effective instruments in

the advancement of the Cosmic Plan.
